I do not understand how to judge this 5 stars. Is misleading! Hotel Four seasons must have 20 stars then. Breakfast 2 stars. Room 2 stars outdated.Friendly staff. Rooftop restaurant is extremely expensive. Recommend Four Seasons for the beautiful view of Bosphorus.

This is a well placed hotel in Istanbul in that it is on the European side, a block from the train museum, and the Spice Market. It is a little out of the way for the Blue Mosque and such, but an easy walk for some. The streets can be very steep near the hotel, and the street is one-way, with very limited parking. The hotel wreaks of Old World Charm as you enter and the employees do seem to play the part. Then you get to the room. The door lock was tricky, the door deadbolt could not be engaged, the bath floor was dirty, the 220 VAC plugs either did not work or were too worn for holding the adapter, there was no bingo brush (a must in Europe), the television turned itself on and off and on all night, there were cracked tiles, and the there was mold on the sink and shower pipes where each entered the wall. The food in their restaurant was sub-par, and the coffee pot was not near a 220 VAC plug. They did have a fridge filled with 'stuff', but it was very annoying to have a clerk come into the room before we vacated it and do an inventory to see if we 'stole or used' something. The hall lights on the forth floor are 'motion sensor' activated and the ones near the room did NOT work, making it almost impossible to see the room number or the key slot. I attribute this '5-star' hotel's poor room to MANAGEMENT NOT doing their job, which seems to be a European fallacy as we have been in other nations with similar rooms.

We stayed at the Legacy Ottoman with a tour package. The location is perfect in the heart of the city near waterfront and the Bazarre. It is also about 15 minutes walk to the Palace. The rooms were comfortable with no issues. We really enjoyed the Turkish Massage downstairs.

We are a travel agency from johannesburg South Africa and the hotel is aware of our situation.We have found this hotel to be dishonest. They rude arrogant and with thousand of attempts over a year to refund our money they completely ignored us. If they deal in such a dishonest manner how can we ever use this hotel to send tourist. They lied for over a year and have continued to ignore us. We have tried on numerous occasions to get our refund and they completely ignore even the law. We would never publicly do this but we are forced to let people kno about there dishonesty Very dissapointed

There were several negatives about this hotel but the most egregious was there system picked up 3 three rooms instead of only ONE and refused to correct it. I booked ONE night online, before the start of our gate1 tour, directly on the hotel’s website. Much to our shock when we checked in, they told me I had 3 rooms instead of just the one night. I told them I had only booked the ONE room for the additional night. After speaking to multiple front desk staff, both that night and the following day, they informed me nothing could be done, all three rooms had been charged and the charge was already on my card, They said the error was mine- I know I didn’t book THREE Rooms for myself and my husband at the same time one right after the other. I was not satisfied with their unwillingness to rectify the situation. They said I could use the 3 rooms if I wanted- really? - that’s the resolution!!! I didn’t need THREE ROOMS.! I then sent an email to the reservations dept and they offered a massage . This didn’t begin to compensate nor offset the cost of the two additional rooms. They were definitely not customer service orientated. Even If it had been my error (which it was NOT) , they should have rectified the situation immediately. The other issue was apparently they had the A/C system Off and it was warm in our room so we had to open windows. Which is fine but quite noisy not very conducive to rest and sleep with all the street noise. Another issue was minor, but not professional demeanor from staff. We had 3 small carryon suitcases and a backpack, we actually could have managed ourselves, but we acquiesced to them bringing up since we were exhausted after a long traveling day from California. The three could have fit on a luggage cart easily With only one Porter. Two porters showed up with our luggage and after dropping off the luggage both just stood there in the room. I thanked them several times and they just continued to stand there. I was so tired and then realized they were both waiting for a tip. We had just arrived and didn’t have much cash only larger bills, I told them I would catch them the next day. they continued to stand there I told them we would only had larger bills & would need to break bills. they responded they could get some change. I didn’t know how much is customary and they actually suggested a $ amount, Each. First, I’m not sure why it took 2 guys to bring three small luggage up in the first place but they both expected a tip and wouldn’t leave until they both received one- It just left me feeling like their “friendliness “ was disingenuous and it was not a good look for a “5” star hotel (it’s no 5) . The breakfast was mediocre at best. other fellow travelers expressed issues with the hotel and the hotel front desk staff blamed them for the errors, I would not recommend this hotel. And it certainly is not a 5 star establishment. I will be pursuing a remedy for the charge. Gave 2 stars only because of location.
